    Fit Notes

Shein does not have a single size block. Because listings are sourced from many manufacturers, each product page ships its own measurement table, and the S/M/L on the tag is essentially decorative — treating the letter size as consistent is the most reliable way to end up with an ill-fitting order. The realistic workflow is: measure yourself once in inches or centimeters, then read the product-specific chart every time. Cotton knits generally run one size smaller than the label; polyester woven dresses vary even more, and Shein's own "true to size" flag on product pages is user-generated rather than QA-verified. Reviews with body measurements are far more useful than the star rating.

    Common Sizing Mistakes

The most common return by a wide margin is trusting the letter size across two orders — a Shein M in one dress is often a full size off a Shein M in a different dress. Plus-size buyers make a second mistake: Shein's Curve line uses a separate chart from its regular line, and cross-referencing the two produces the wrong size roughly half the time. A third recurring issue is Shein swimwear, which is drafted assuming very little stretch, and buyers who normally size down in swim end up with pieces that don't close.

    How Shein Compares

Against Zara — the closest fast-fashion comparison — Shein runs about one size smaller for the same nominal label and is much less consistent between products. Against Old Navy, expect to size up 1–2 in most categories. Against Cider and Princess Polly (Shein's most direct competitors), Shein is comparable in the tag-versus-body gap but noticeably less consistent in fabric quality at the same numeric size, which affects how a garment sits at the tape-measured size.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Does Shein run small?

Yes, Shein is widely known for running small. It's recommended to size up 1-2 sizes and always check the specific product measurements.

    Are Shein size charts accurate?

The product-specific measurements are usually accurate, but the S/M/L labels don't match US standards. Always use the cm/inch measurements provided.

How do I find my size at Shein?

Measure your bust, waist, and hips, then compare to the specific product's size chart. Don't rely on your usual size from other brands.
